Membership

Although the Society was founded by college teachers and has always had its office on a university campus, it is not exclusively academic in its membership. Its members are doctors, lawyers, bankers, ranchers, farmers, businessmen and women, and housewives. Anyone may join, whether a resident of Texas or not. Libraries and other institutions may also join and receive our publications.

Why Join the Texas Folklore Society?

  • Members receive a free annual publication or some other folklore book selected by the editor for distribution in the years when a book is not brought out by the Society.

  • Members receive a 20% discount on purchases of TFS books from Texas A & M University Press.

  • Members have the opportunity to share folklore with other members through presentations and conversations at meetings.

  • Members have the opportunity to submit folklore papers for possible publication in the annual volume.

The Dues year is January 1 through December 31. The annual publication is shipped to members in the fall of the same year. Dues received after November 15th will automatically be applied to the next calendar year, unless otherwise specified by the member.

Annual dues are:

$30    Family
$50    Paisano Grande
$500  Individual Lifetime
$750  Family Lifetime
