Student Presenter Guidelines

The Texas Folklore Society  membership comes from all walks of life, from Texas and many other states. The Society especially encourages students to submit papers and present them at the meetings. Any student currently enrolled in public school, college, or even graduate school may submit a paper on a folklore-related subject and have it considered for inclusion in the annual meeting, according to the following guidelines:

  • 1.     The student presenter must be a member of the Society. (Student membership dues are $15 per year.)
  • 2.     The paper must be orally presented by the person who wrote it.
  • 3.     The presenter must complete a Student Presenter Form and provide the Society with complete contact information, notifying the TFS of any changes before the meeting.
  • 4.     The presenter must register to attend the meeting before the published deadline. Registration forms will be sent to presenters in late January or February. The $25 meeting registration fee, optional banquet fee, and any other extras are the responsibility of the presenter.
  • 5.     For student presenters who travel distances that would warrant compensation for gas, food, and hotel expenses, they may receive a stipend payment in the amount of $200 to assist with such expenses. The stipend will be presented to the student at the meeting.
