Haile honored with Hootenanny Award

In 1956, Hermes Nye organized the first official TFS Hootenanny. We figured 65 years later would be the perfect time to honor someone from our family who has been an important part of keeping that tradition alive. The recipient of the inaugural Hermes Nye Hootenanny Award is Lee Haile of Tarpley, Texas, who has been leading hoots for the past few decades.

Welcome

Welcome! Whether you're a longtime member of the Texas Folklore Society, a new friend, or if you're just checking us out, we welcome you! Take our website for a spin In April 2020, our membership elected to move our home office to a new host institution, Tarleton State University. In Stephenville, the university has arranged for us to have a beautiful suite of offices. We've got space for the Secretary-Editor/Executive Director, the Office Manager, a reception area, and plenty of space for our artifacts, library, and records. In addition to the home office, we will be looking for opportunities to partner with organizations across the state by participating in events and/or being a source of sponsorship. If you're interested in visiting the home office for research or just a chat, let us know.
