Session Description:
Have you considered a roadside marker to recognize your community’s unique folklore? This workshop with the Texas Folklore Society introduces the William G. Pomeroy Foundation’s Legends & Lore® Marker Grant Program, which helps communities across the United States recognize and share local stories, customs, and traditions passed down through generations.

Attendees will learn about the Pomeroy Foundation’s marker grant programs and get an in-depth look at Legends & Lore in partnership with the Texas Folklore Society, the Foundation’s official partner for Texas-based applications. The session will highlight Texas folklore, why it matters, and how fully funded roadside markers can amplify awareness about a community’s unique cultural heritage.

Whether your subject is a folktale, a local legend, or a long-standing community tradition, this session will explain the process of preparing and submitting a strong marker grant application. A Q&A will follow to answer questions and help you get started.
