New book dives into Ab's spelunking adventures

William Elliott, PhD., a longtime friend of F.E. “Ab” Abernethy, has published a portion of Ab's memoir, detailing the spelunking adventures and more. Ab served as Secretary-Editor for the for TFS from 1971–2004.

Haile honored with Hootenanny Award

In 1956, Hermes Nye organized the first official TFS Hootenanny. We figured 65 years later would be the perfect time to honor someone from our family who has been an important part of keeping that tradition alive. The recipient of the inaugural Hermes Nye Hootenanny Award is Lee Haile of Tarpley, Texas, who has been leading hoots for the past few decades.
